With a history spanning decades, Yachticon has consistently set the standard in the marine industry, producing specialized products tailored for boat maintenance and care. As of now, Sea Gear proudly stands as the exclusive distributor for Yachticon in the Maldives offering premium marine care solutions to the island nation.

The Story of Yachticon

Yachticon was founded in 1982 by Astrid Nagel, who launched the company with a single product, Aqua Clean, a solution for conserving drinking water on board. The idea for Aqua Clean came from, Herbert Nagel, who had spent his life importing treats and noticed the limitations of the existing water conservation products, which were powders and pills. Wanting something more convenient and affordable, he envisioned a liquid product that wouldn’t clump or be as costly as pills. With the help of a neighbor, Dr. Winkelmann, a food chemist, they developed the unique formula that became Aqua Clean.
The first batches were made right in Astrid’s kitchen and later in the basement. The product quickly gained popularity, thanks in part to small editorial articles on water conservation published by a supportive editor at Bild Zeitung. Demand grew, and three sales representatives helped expand distribution, while small booths at major marine trade shows like Hanseboot and boot Düsseldorf introduced the product to a wider audience. From the very beginning, export was a major focus, helping Yachticon reach a global market.
In 1992, Oliver Nagel, joined the business after completing his business training. Choosing between a career in candies or marine care, Oliver was drawn to boat care because of his passion for sailing. At the time, Yachticon was still operating from the family home, with distribution managed by a warehouse service supplier. Under Oliver’s leadership, Yachticon grew from 10 products to more than 1,000, covering nearly every aspect of boat care and maintenance.
Today, Yachticon remains a family-owned business known for its quality, innovation, and dedication to the boating community. It offers a comprehensive range of products, sold in over 50 countries, that make life on the water easier and more enjoyable.
